Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.2 RU1 With Server 2016 Std Edition-Part1

SEPM 14.2 RU1 with Windows Server 2016

Hello Friends ,

I am Manish Dixit , I have 12 yrs of  experience in IT sector with different-2 technologies which comes under Security, Network, Server - Data-Center & Cloud . This is my First Blog which is related to Symantec Endpoint Protection Antivirus. 

This blog will help you to install and configure SEPM on Windows Server 2016.

So lets begin with step by step installation😊

• First of all you need to install Window Server 2016, here i assume that you know how to install Server 2016 (If you don't know how to install server 2016, please read my blog "https://manyinonebymanishdixit.blogspot.com/2019/05/windows-server-2016-std-edition.html")

• For SEPM installation i am using windows server 2016 with configuration (70 GB HDD + 3.1 GB RAM + 1 processor, hostname=SEPM, IP Address=192.168.112.134/24). You can define the configuration settings according to your need.

• For this configuration i have disabled Windows User Account Controls (UAC) and Windows Firewall as per below

• For Disable UAC go to registry and set value EnableLUA to 0
  

• For disable Windows Firewall got o firewall and do below setting (Here we are taking standalone server which is not connected to Active Directory now)
  

• Once complete with Windows Server 2016 installation and above settings, download Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.2 RU1 from Symantec website. There will be a file "Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_14.2.0_RU1_Full_Installation_EN" just download it and extract it. After extracting you will get below files as shown in image.
  

• Run setup.exe
  

• Click on "Install Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager" and a setup wizard will open.
  

• Accept End User License Agreement. Then click Next-
  

• You can Choose Destination Folder to install SEPM, here i am choosing default directory. Click Next-
  

• Click on Install tab-
  

• It will take few minute to complete (please make sure that you have internet available on that machine to complete live update of SEPM)
  

• After above process, click next to configure management server.
  

• After that Management Configure Wizard will open, we will take default configuration (which is applicable for less than 500 clients)
  

• Once you click on "Next" it will ask basic details with Email Server settings.
  

• After click "Next" , it will ask to run Live Update (We can skip this now and will do it later in configuration part setting)
  

• When we will go to Cloud Symantec , then this option will come for helping us for our endpoints.
  

• It will take a little time while Database created and Initialized.
  

• Installation Complete, Now launch the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.
  

• Once you click on "Finish" you will get a console login screen after a few mins. The Default Server Communication (HTTPS) port is 8443.
